My Top 5 Games Played This Year: By Kyle The Pug
Whether it was old games or new, 2020 was a year that expanded my video game playing time despite the worldwide pandemic. Today I have made a top 5 list of favorite video games I have played this year. Now the game list I have made doesn't have to be released from this years. There were games I discovered from a combination of friends and my own that I had so much fun playing this year. First of all shoutout to the GG app and all the people that created this website to help me organize my list of games. Without them, this list wouldn't be possible.
Honorable mention: (Among Us) -Now I was given this on steam by a good friend of mine. However I have only played this once and it was on the Switch. Got it for $2.18 through some eShop points. It is a fun game. My problem is that the friends I play with we all have different schedules and we play at a different. Hopefully this changes in the year 2021.
#5 (Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity) -As a Zelda fan, this game brought so much hype for me and I bought this day 1 of release! I just 100% this game including the side quests and 90s hours played was well worth unlocking Link's throwback tunic! The story was not how I envisioned but it was still a fun game nevertheless. The combat was great but sometimes I had moments where I fought two lynels at the same time and I had trouble seeing where I was at. Other than that, this was an enjoyable game to experience! If you love Zelda, this game is for you. Tiny spoiler here, but beat BOTW before you play this. Trust me! This game barely makes #5 for everything I explained. It was an emotional joy ride from start to finish!
#4 (Pokemon X&Y) As a Pokemon fan, this game I skipped because of money reasons and not owning a 3DS. Luckily this year Citra Nightly and a rom changed that. Not only that, my late best friend in real life Nicholas Lockmiller aka Cowboy Nick also owned this so this was in his honor. Twitter helped me to select Fennekin as my starter and off I was on my first ever journey in Kalos. Fennekin (now a Delphox) isn't bad as everybody says it is. I just feel its overshadowed by the likes of Froakie/Greninja and Chespin/Chesnaught. I am almost near the end, but so far the story is WAY better than Pokemon Sword & Shield's story. The gym layouts were no doubt some of the best I have seen in any Pokemon game. More gyms need to have creative puzzles and layouts like Pokemon X&Y does. My team so far is Delphox, Lapras, Aurorus, Lucario, and Venusaur with Swanna helping me fly to certain areas of the Kalos region.
#3 (Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Edition) Now you can't tell me you haven't played this in 2020 because let's be honest here. Mostly everyone played this when this was popular and it still is today. Whether I played solo or with friends, this game clicked to make sure I always had a good time. I had my rage moments, but there were some funny and epic wins I had in this game to put this game in this spot. Everybody wants to get the coolest skins so they save up their crowns from their hard earned victories. Me? Well I am the exact opposite and just spend them all in one place. Either way, its great to have fun and have a great time with people you know! Plus hearing your friends rage is always the best part unless it happens to you of course.
#2 (Animal Crossing: New Horizons) Now this game is my 2nd most played game hours on my Nintendo Switch and there's a couple of easy reasons for that. #1: Covid-19, because this game was released at the right date and in the right moment. And #2: despite this being my first ever Animal Crossing game, there was no objectives at all which was the best part. Let your creativity do all the work. There's really not much to explain here except for the fact that this game brings everyone of all ages together during this crisis! I was so glad to pick this game up and experience the peaceful side of video games. And I always check on my island every single day!
#1 (Chrono Trigger) If you asked me to play this years ago, I would have said no. But after seeing a couple of people play this, I was eager to see what the buzz was about. Keep in mind this game came out in 1995 on the SNES. I just discovered this game this year. After beating this game, this game made my top 3 SNES games of a time and it makes sense why everyone loves this game so much. The story was amazing, the music had one of the best soundtracks of any SNES game, and the graphics and animation were way ahead of its time. This could have passed to be on the launch day of the Nintendo 64 of how well this amazing game was. This game changed me a lot. Such a beautiful masterpiece! Chrono Trigger is my #1 played game of 2020!
What are your top 5 games of this year? It doesn't have to be released from this either. Let me know!
