Make sure that captions are turned on. I've added text commentary to explain the strategy used throughout the video. Might also be useful if you need to translate them from English. 0:00 Start 15:33 2,000 Population Achieved (Mayor's House) 18:09 10,000 Population Achieved (City Hall) 48:09 30,000 Population Achieved (Statue) 1:05:37 60,000 Population Achieved (Military Base) 1:28:25 90,000 Population Achieved (Llama Dome) 1:47:47 120,000 Population Achieved (Arcologies) 2:07:30 Close-Up of Fully Developed City 2:21:26 Examining the Microsims 2:24:11 Final Survey of Maps and Graphs 2:28:09 End Download this scenario here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/508dnd... Were the subscribers of this channel clamoring for my first upload in months to be a walkthrough/longplay for a 30-year-old simulation game? No? Oh... Well, I've been spending a lot of time lately getting back into SimCity 2000. So much so that I've happened to discover that a lot of "common knowledge" about the game isn't very accurate. So, I put this video together, partly as a resource for the dozen or so people who might find it useful, and partly to test run a modified scenario that I created. This is a playthrough with text commentary of a customized and expanded version of the Dullsville scenario, in which the player's goal is now to build a city that hits the highest in-game benchmark for population-based rewards and acknowledgements. You can grab the scenario file at the above URL if you want to give it a spin. It should work on both the DOS and Windows versions of the game; just drop it into the scenario folder. This modified scenario differs from the base Dullsville scenario in the following ways: - population goal is 120k (instead of 20k) - time limit is the year 2000 (instead of 1920) - financial goal is to just have positive cash on hand (instead of $5000) - difficulty level is Hard (instead of Easy) - population based rewards are still granted (they aren't originally) Dullsville is the one pre-existing scenario from the game that focuses more on general city development than disaster management. So, I thought it'd make a fitting base for an expanded scenario that's entirely focused on developing a fully mature city. This video should serve as a good guide not only for this specific scenario, but also for general SimCity 2000 strategies. I'm interested to hear what any veteran players might think of the scenario itself. Too hard? Too easy? SC2K is the kind of game that tends to snowball; whether you have good or bad momentum, that momentum is likely to persist for a while. So, it's kind of hard for me to judge whether the ~89 year time limit on this scenario is actually meaningful or not. If you want to pick up this game and play it today, storefronts like Steam and GoG sell it, but typically only the DOS version. The Windows 95 version runs at much higher resolutions and speeds but can't be installed on modern Windows without patches. If you acquire the Win95 version, though, you can use this patch to fix it up: https://github.com/araxestroy/sc2kfix...
